The Ones Who Are Alone

Written by Kalliroscope, July 2002

They drove us out with sticks and stones
We, the ones who are alone
We from whom God turned His face
They drive us out of every place.

Long ago the children played their games
They laughed at us, they called us names
They threw things at us, rocks and stones
We, the ones who are alone.

Like all things, in time this grew
Burning the words they knew to be true
Burning the souls who tried to be free
Burning themselves, though they could not see

From making fun as child's play
Came the mob with scythes at the end of the day
These things grow old as all things will
No longer a mockery when you make the kill.

They drove us out with sticks and stones
We, the ones who are alone
It was us whom they killed, us whom they called names
But in the end, like us, they shall burn in flames.
