In Many Empty Rooms

Written by Kalliroscope

In many empty rooms
We stand, but do not touch the floor
We watch, but do not see
Nor can we hear, though we listen hard

In these empty rooms
We are silent and alone
Though we are many, we are none
And none shall catch us if we fall.

In a thousand empty rooms
Like crystal prisms, warped beach glass
Mirrors showing us what we never thought to see
Reflections of our souls are found in one another’s eyes

In many empty rooms
In this castle of cobwebbed delights
None for us, none for you
Nothing to say but good-bye…

In these empty rooms
Muses drift, grieving, through the dust
White sheets on all the chairs
And the paintings hang with looming solemnity
Watching the watchers, we…

In a thousand empty rooms
Echoes fall eternally
The ghosts are we that cannot see
The path of our own misfortune
Our fate leads us on, and we drown in it.
